The starting point

The campaign had to exist everywhere at once, on television, radio and digital, which ruled out designing one format and adapting it to the others afterwards. Alongside the spot, a content operation ran on social, handled by three parties: Plez producing the videos, Spread It leading the editorial content, and the studio handling animation, thumbnails and the visuals that appear during the videos. More than twenty videos came out of it.

The approach

From product ads to unboxing, one consistent look

For Krefel, vdb creation handled the animation of product visuals (3D renders, price overlays) and the titling of an unboxing format, in collaboration with Spread It, the content agency in charge of production. The real challenge of retail titling is repetition. The same graphic gestures come back from one post to the next, from the price overlay to the box opening, and they have to stay readable every time without wearing thin. So we built a deliberately small animation vocabulary, reusable across formats. The same system carries the commercial moments of the year, from sales to Blue Monday to January resolutions. Every format is adapted for social media, vertical as well as wide, with a shared outro that closes the videos the same way.

What was delivered
  • Advertising spot adapted for television, radio and digital
  • 3D renders and product visual animation
  • Thumbnails and treatment for more than twenty social videos
  • A shared outro across every format
How we work

The same four steps, every project

See our expertise · Motion & TV branding
  1. Discovery

We frame what the film has to say, to whom, and into which brand world it fits. If guidelines already exist, they become our starting point rather than a constraint to work around.

  2. Direction

We list the boards and set the art direction as slides. You know what the film will contain and what it will look like before a single frame moves.

  3. Framing

Still boards, approved before any animation. This is not set in stone: if the project calls for it, or if you would rather go straight to animation, we skip it. But when we keep it, it saves animating the same sequence three times over.

  4. Production and delivery

The animation itself, with regular check-ins to avoid nasty surprises. For sound, voice and music we work with partners whose actual craft it is, rather than pretending in house.
